I’m told that once upon a time, LVPOA management used to communicate with the members through articles in the LOG. I feel like there are a lot of things going on at the POA that members may not know about, so I decided to revive this tradition. I will also be placing a copy on our website at www.lvpoa.org.
Fourth of July 2010: The Fourth of July event will be held at Bar-K Park again this year. The Fourth of July Council does a great job organizing the event each year.
AquaPalooza: The Lago Vista and Jonestown Area Chamber of Commerce requested the use of Cody Park during AquaPalooza. Much like the Fourth of July, the regatta and other events, it appears to be an excellent opportunity to showcase our community and for our community to support local businesses who may have suffered during the economic downturn of the past several years. The chamber has agreed to be responsible for park security during the event and clean up after the event. Please note that camping is not permitted in Cody Park during this event other than to allow vendors who have set up their equipment to remain overnight with their property.
Marina Park: Marina Park has been mowed, pruned and cleared of brush, just in time for the Fourth of July. I understand it’s a great place to view the fireworks, and I hope you will take a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of the park now that it has been opened.
Ramps: Three of our four ramps are open to members now. We have placed buoys at Emerald Park to help define the ramp a little better as the water recedes.
Marinas: The LVPOA staff recently completed much-needed repairs to the marinas. The LCRA inspected the marinas last week; during the inspection we were told that ours are among the cleanest marinas they have inspected. However, they did find a few items to be addressed.
Upcoming Board Agenda Items: Among the items on the LVPOA Board Agenda in July will be: commercial use of LVPOA properties, consideration of requests for 2011 events, towing unauthorized vehicles from the parks and use of parks by short-term rentals in 2011. The board holds its regular meeting 7 p.m. every second Thursday of the month at the LVPOA Activity Center Bluebonnet Room on American Drive.
As always, LVPOA staff wishes you a healthy and happy summer season, and we ask that you call upon us if there is anything we can do to improve your experience as a member of the LVPOA.
