The Men’s Golf Association played a funky game on June 24 with each player able to use only three clubs plus a putter. The game was two-man better ball net. Many competitors remarked afterward that they played very well and felt it was due to the added concentration required in this format.
Jack Aarestad and Dale Beeber locked up first place with an outstanding score of 58, beating old man par by 14 strokes.
Dennis Peltier and Bob Valentine were almost as excellent in second place with a net 60. Peltier seemed to see no putt that he could not sink.
Charlie Hensen and Phillip Millard recorded a net 63 to win third place. Following a stroke back at 64 and a fourth place finish was the team of Jim Bernhard and Jim Van Til.
Peltier, Millard and Bob Bradley won closest to the pin prizes.
There was no play on the third hole due to vehicular vandalism. Police were investigating the scene. If you have any information on this incident, contact the Lago Vista Police Department at 267-7141.
In Inter-cup play at Packsaddle Golf Course in Kingsland, the Lago Vista team finished in fourth place. Rick Stephens and Scott Cameron shot an outstanding 59 to finish second.
After four rounds, overall team standings are Legends (325), Packsaddle (275), Lago Vista (225) and Hidden Falls (175). Inter-cup finals are tentatively planned for July 22 at the Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.
